Delivery Rooms

When the time arrives for your baby to be born, you will be admitted to The Kensington Wing and be met by the midwives and your consultant obstetrician. As a forward-thinking unit, we also encourage choices in birth position and can provide birth balls, beanbags, floor mats, birthing stools, and birthing pools.

Our delivery rooms are furnished with all the equipment necessary to monitor you and your baby during the labour and birth. Our philosophy of patient choice also extends to pain relief. We encourage complementary therapies while also offering a range of traditional methods. Feel free to discuss these in depth with your obstetrician or midwife. We have a dedicated 24/7 anaesthetic service for the Kensington Wing, provided by a group of hand-picked consultant obstetricians. One of these consultants is present in the hospital at all times to help you with pain relief in labour or an anaesthetic for any procedure which you undergo.

Being located in the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital means the Kensington Wing can offer the security of co-located intensive care units for you and your baby. Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is the leading centre for paediatric surgery in North West London. In the event that you need these facilities, we will be able to provide you with continuity of care, and transfers will be smooth and timely. You can find out more about the Chelsea and Westminster intensive care unit (ICU) and our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) on our website.

Our friendly staff are on hand 24/7, 365 days of the year, combining personalised care with hotel style facilities and services, for the duration of your stay.
